Working closely with independent & unsigned artists, independent record companies and people from across all aspects of the creative arts playground. Using a combination of new and traditional media, we help to provide important exposure for bands, solo musicians, photographers, authors, poets, film makers and artists.
Music Publishing
Whenever a piece of music is used, there is a 'royalty' to be paid to the songwriter/composer. The music could be used as a ring tone, during a live performance, in an independent film production or a tv advert. Each use requires a fee or 'royalty' to be paid.
At Put The Needle On It, we work with independent and unsigned artists/songwriters to help get their compositions in front of the people who want music every day and are always on the look out for something new to record, add to their film soundtrack or use for the next tv campaign.
As music publishers, we aim to get the work of the songwriters/composers we represent, used in as many ways as possible. This can include helping to secure a record deal, having the music 'synched' on a radio/TV programme, advert or film, or seeking other artists to record a 'cover version' of the song. It is also the publisher's responsibility to 'administer' the catalogue, ensuring that where a composition has been used, the appropriate amount has been paid. This is done in conjunction with collection societies such as 'PRS' and 'MCPS'. The societies collect money from music users and pass it on to the publishing companies and/or songwriters/composers, after deducting a commission.
Promotions
Initially working closely with Somojo Magazine, we will be promoting the magazine itself and syndicating the interviews and content for use in other publications and websites. In the near future we will also be promoting individual artists and organising events and gigs.
